It's a fad
If you develop something that is easy to replicate and it turns into a fad, it is going to be copied by everyone. Anyone who is enough of a chump to work so hard to create a fad following on an OS appearance deserves their fate.

Everyone is allowed to pursue technology for fun and profit, including Microsoft. Microsoft seems to be better at the game than anyone else, but they are still entitled to the the fruits of their labors.

Cry babies didn't put in their time back in the formative years and so don't have the distribution and marketing base that Microsoft has built up with Windows. It is unwise to plan a future that relies on mooching off of someone else's turf as many do with Windows.

It is better to struggle with linux and other OSS pieces and parts if you want to create something that no one else will want to copy.
