Assertions reconsidered... and they're still the same
>>What are the first questions most of the computer using world asks about computers?
How easy is it to use? What does it do for me? I just plug in the cord and it runs, right? I don't have to add anything? I've seen this before, right?
For most, in fact, those are the only questions.

1. The ease of use excuse went out the window over a year ago.

2. The what does it do for me question is legit and Linux not having the programs people use was exactly the point of my post.

3. I just plug in the cord and it runs, right? Yup.

4. I don't have to add anything? Nope.

5. I've seen this before, right? Again, if their programs aren't there, there will be a problem. As far as how the OS itself works, well the icons are a bit different, but you click the icons and it opens files or programs, you click the blue underlined words to follow a link, you pop in a CD and it plays, etc...

>>Are you sure Linux has "stout supporters" because of its capabilities? No philosophical reasons, no enjoyment of controlling the operating environment, no distaste for Microsoft involved? Just the functionality of the operating system(?).

Yes I am sure. How do I know? Because I am one. I do not have any distaste for MS as a company per say. I only dislike their software. I'll buy their mouses anytime. I find them ergonomic, I like the fact that left handed people can use them (we have a lot of them in this company) and unlike much of what MS puts out they are platform independant.

And by the way, I doubt too many people in business use Linux for "enjoyment of controlling the operating environment". They control the operating environment not for mere enjoyment but because THAT'S WHAT THEY NEED.
