I'd like to be able to find more recent info, but I think that the 'N.Y. Times' did a survey and found that about 20% of working computers were Macs at the time of the survey. This has been about 5 years ago and I haven't been able to find any more recent similar surveys.
Just off the top of my head, about 5-8% of PCs among my clients' offices and homes are dead iron due to malware and other software/hardware problems that have eventually defeated their owners. Many have been replaced by PDAs and the new cell phones.
By everyone's standard-issue logic, we'll soon all ditch our desktop Windows machines for cell phones because, after all, they're outselling PCs 3 to 1.
