The question is whether it's a default option or no option
As long as they offer MSN's search engine as a default option (by "option" we imply you have a choice) then I agree with what you are saying. All that does is it allows people to see MS is offering an option, and there's no harm done there. If, however, MS tries to hardwire MSN's search into their utilities bundled into the OS, then we have an issue.

I think MS by now has learned the difference between offering their stuff as a default and offering only their stuff and using their OS monopoly as a tool to wedge themselves into another market. Offering a good default option will win customer loyalty and offering no option will create dissention. However, that is not how MS has operated in the past, so you'll understand why some pessimists may think MS's intentions are less pure.
