RE: Debating the morality behind software development
I am currently a final year student doing Computer Science and this rather relevant to one of my favorite modules, Social Legal & Ethics. On our discussion board I put forth this page, with a question which I will re ask here to see what others opinion's are.

Although when choosing a employer, I can give an initial decision whether they are morally correct, e.g. I am not going to help the military kill people. I was wondering what happens if I am working for a company and I discover something immoral that I don't want a hand in. e.g. say I am working for Google, and they suddenly transfer me to the China division and am told to write some code which filters out all images of Tiananmen Sq, now personal I think that is immoral, I think that it is very important that Chinese people should see this image.

So what would happen? If i refuse to do this work, will I be fired? Or is this illegal? What legislations are in place to protect my rights? I am aware of the possibility of whistle blowing but what about morally Grey matters such as Google in China where the company is not really doing anything illegal?
