Its not nukes, its dictatorships.
Scientific progress happens whether you like it or not. The real question is will unscrupulous people use your efforts to thwart the US Constitution and implement a 1984 style dictatorship.

Guns are intended for protection but can also be used for immoral purposes. Likewise, computer applications that have a positive purpose can also be misused (ex: Internet). But if the sole purpose of an application is to control people thoughts, take away their freedom, and make them slaves to their government (like China), then the application is immoral.
