Software and morality
Then you need to look at the business requirements and judge whether or not you agree with those goals. Or when you implement those requirements, do you claim to "just be following orders"?

The computer is just a tool. Software is just a tool. A knife is just a tool. It's their use which poses a moral/ethical question.

If you know what the software you are building will be used for, you have to decide if you agree with that use or not. Of course, it could always be taken and used for another purpose. You might have the wisdom and intelligence to see that ahead of time and object, or try to add safeguards. You might not. Grady's whole point was to be thinking about it and to not blindly implement whatever requirements you are given.
