Respect of other's privacy is a moral issue
And your firms' accountability to its consumers (and any stakeholders) is a moral and ethical issue. Moral has been an issue for any responsible person, be he/she a sw developer or a housewife. In the end it is the fact that we cannot relax over our little lives, whatever we do for a living. You, me , us, we are all responsible for our acts. It is the fact that now we know that we cannot avoid this that is hard.
