Java must be ready, they got a cool naming scheme now!
Another spotlight at the show will shine on the new version of Java for desktop computers--a version code-named "Tiger," different enough to merit a new name. Previously called Java 2 Standard Edition (J2SE) 1.5, it's now going by the name J2SE 5.0, Keller said.

Ut was getting too complicated to keep track of minor releases, just call 'em major release like some others, start at 3.1 instead of 1.0, and poof ... its prime time!
