Or "the sky is falling!" (or going to) as outlined by MS speaks volumes about it's overbearing power, perceived influence and monopolistic position.

Either...

MS is lying/exaggerating about the world-wide negative influence this EU action would have created and shows it's none-too-humble-opinion of it's own importance... "a legend in it's own mind"... typical MS hubris and arrogance.

Or...

It's providing proof and admitting it does indeed wield too much influence and power over the computer world and, by it's own arguments and self-incriminating evidence, should be reigned in for the benefit of all... consumers and competitors alike. Since, when is it good to have so much power in the hands of one entity? Having all your proverbial eggs in one basket is never a good thing. (back to the "reliance on one platform is not good" theory and opinion as discussed a few months ago)

Or...

Money, bribery, U.S. political influence, etc have possibly come into play.
