Feds provide cover to RIAA
Remembering what RIAA is doing here.

In the past, uing special powers greater than those available to the FBI, they have been attacking their customers as thieving pirates, the scum of the earth.

This has the danger that the scum will eventually get resentful.

But if Federal resources are used to attack substantial numbers of people, RIAA can stand around with their thumbs in their... mouths and say, "See, it's not us. It's the Federal government suing grandmothers and 12 year olds and honors students because of the horrible offense they're committing. We're just the victims. Uh... We mean the artists are the victims."

The only hope for release from this craven display of stupidity is that the equipment makers will slow them down a bit, and about 5 major op ed pieces a month are appearing pointing out that the entire problem, if it exists when there's no proof of loss of sales, is an industry's refusal to use a profitable new method of distribution.

Political power and the law are apparently bespoken by the bad guys. Ridicule and the interest in profit of other sharks are what's left to defend the public interest.

Be a long time before this stuff is lived down.
