Sites that use pop-ups legitimately may suffer

Our website (we're a public library) uses pop-up windows legitimately. When a user clicks on a link to access an electronic resource, a new window appears with the content. This allows them to easily go back to the resource index and select more content to open in more new windows, so they can peruse and compare content from multiple sites. It also prevents them from losing the index in case it was the result of a search of our extensive site.

Most pop-up blockers break this functionality, and we're constantly having to tell both staff and patrons to either disable the blockers when they go to our site, or loosen their settings to allow our pop-ups specifically.

Now that this is going to be built in to IE, I have a feeling these issues will dramatically increase in number. MS's browser "innovations" have repeatedly forced us to do minor and major revisions of our sites so users with XP can fully access our site, while trying not to break the things that have always worked fine under Netscape and Mozilla.

Thanks, Microsoft. Once again, you've created new problems for us in the spirit of "innovation".
