Huh? What difference is there is putting the ad in the main page and putting it in a popup along with some content?

"ZDNet already has dreadful "drop down" ads that fill the page, then slowly retreat to reveal the content."

Really??? I've never seen one of those, wonder why...?


Anyway, here's what will happen:

a) IE (on Windows XP only) will get a popup-blocker and Microsoft will cry "Innovation!!!!!!".

b) The advertizers will go "ho, hum" and do something else.

c) After a couple of weeks, IE users will soon be left out in the cold again as far as ad-blocking goes. The rest of the world will simply block the new system.

d) Microsoft has managed to get some other new "features" onto those machines along with the promise of getting rid of those adverts. This is their real goal...
