I utterly concur with your statements regarding IE's standards "compliance". I am sick of sites not displaying properly because they decide any browser that says it's Netscape or running on a Mac deserves different pages. Particularly sites that want me to run Netscape 4.7 or such!

Message to developers: please write clean, standards-compliant pages. If you have trouble with IE, complain to MS, Detect IE and write different pages for it. But please give the rest of us consistent, standards-compliant pages.

My favourite tale is of the web site that would not display correctly in FireBird because of missing table tags. When the error was pointed out to them, they just said it displays fine in IE and that's what "everyone" uses. The fact that a template that generates 90% of their pages had a defect in it, and that it would take moments to fix, seemed irrelevant.
