What about browser bans?
Are they going to ban people who use alternative browsers, too? Of course not, because the ads still come through. And that IS what the whole issue is, regardless of whatever tripe Yahoo is trying to spreading around. They want you to see their ads, plain and simple.

I've used Trillian for years and had to deal with this a few times. A patch is usually available in a couple of days. The Yahoo client is so clumsy and error prone, I still can't believe it's a production module. The Trillian interface is so much nicer to use, extremely stable, and ad free. Using anything but the Yahoo client is the obvious choice for anyone that remotely knows what they're doing. Let the newbies choke on that garbage client. None for me, thanks!

Regardless of which UI I use, I don't get SPIM because I only accept messages from approved sources and declining sources is so easy. How they can say it's a SPIM issue, I don't know. It's just a joke, with everyone laughing at Yahoo.
