Get your story straight: First off, I don't work for MS. I work for IBM, a major contributor to Linux. But this email memo thing that you are refering to is simply an outlandish lie perpetrated by Linux zealots. Start on line 1. THE DATE: 1998. Are you honestly going to tell me that Linux was even half-a$$ed viable back in 1998? Outside of college campuses and '486 systems it simply didn't have a market. Even now, SIX YEARS LATER, it is still predominantly found there - on a handful of PC's on college campuses and on old antique hardware.
Furthermore, have you, in your entire professional career, ever read a memo (EMAIL) that was so anti-your-company? Do you honestly believe that a company, a GLOBAL LEADER, would have nothing better to do (in 1998 no less), than to have their "known to be key players at Microsoft"-people engaged in such an endeavor? Do you believe that they would still all be working for MS 6 years later after writing this memo? MMmmmmhh.... it's amazing. If Linux only were a religion, they would really be able to make some money from this nonsense they keep putting out there. It's exactly this kind of poop that keeps companies from adopting Linux. Anyone with half a brain and the ability to read english with a critical eye can discern that this is some elaborate rambling by some zealots about pretty much nothing.
