here's why
Spamming with any of the standard interfaces is waaay to inefficiant to be useful. A serious spammer would create their own client program that gets into the network the same way that Trilian does. The spammers wouldnt be comming from trilian clients, but other cilents using the same methods.

Although I think that at this stage the spam argument is just a screen to get people to download their client instead of trilian; im spam isnt enough of a threat on its own to get them to make changes.
