back in the good ole days
I remember hotmail back in 1996. I thought it was pretty cool, the idea of a web-based email.

Some of us might remember the H with the traintracks.

Hotmail is very near and dear to me though, I thought I was hot crap because I had email when I still didn't even have local internet. Meeting people in chat rooms, grabbing email addresses like they were going out of style.

Then some friend decided to put me in my place, they bombed my account with 25000 email messages. Hotmail wasn't that big yet, and it kindof took a dive. It was down for a short time, but it handled it. The mailbox was too much for Netscape to display, one of the friends responsible for the gag went into Hotmail through a UNIX shell and deleted all the messages, still took a bit, but he got it done.

Now 25000 messages is still quite a bit, but I probably have that much at my work account. But those were the days when the Pentium 90 was considered top of the line.
