Ridiculous?
I guess 1247 days of uptime is ridiculous too? That kind of uptime is absolutely inconcievable in an MS environment, but I suppose you already know that.

This is uptime is from our primary data server. We've got similar figures on the rest of our Netware servers. As a matter of fact the only reason why this uptime isn't higher is due to applying some BIOS updates back in 1999. You can keep your MS boxes. We're still Novell all the way baby.

The only people who think Netware is a ridiculous NOS are those that never used it. Why do you think MS moved to an Active Directory environment? Because it works so well in Netware. Novell's biggest failure was in management and very poor business decisions (buying WordPerfect? Come on...)

They seem to have stabalized now and I hope will soon become a blip on the IT radar again coupled with the rise of Linux.

Competition is good. Maybe, just maybe we'll see a future where MS releases a product not rife with security holes. It's been all lip service until recently. But I guaranty you, without any real competition in the server market, MS would continue on, business as usual. "Oh, there are security holes in Server 2003? We've fixed all of the security holes for you, and packaged them in our latest Server 2007. Simply upgrade at your earliest convenience."

Long live competition!
