Desktop Linux has nowhere to go but up
Microsoft will be king of the desktop for quite some time, but their market share has no where to go but down. What Linux has done for servers, it will eventually do for desktops.

Comsumer desktop computers are becoming commodities and it won't be too many years until no one cares what operating system is on their computers.

That's already true of cellphones where Symbian is king and no one even wants to run Windows.
