When our engineering department said they needed HPC, I told them that unless Microsoft gets involved in this area, I did not think it was worth investigating. Several products never made it off of the blueprints because our engineers claimed that they needed HPC capabilities. Many of them resigned because they just did not understand our corporate direction: all software comes from Microsoft and is deployed when my rep says it is ready. I am not about to risk damage to our pristine Windows infrastructure in order to gain some theoretical competitive advantage in the market place. Linux is not an HPC solution, now that Microsoft is coming out with one I will sign up for it blindly.
