ok, it does matter, but my point was that i dont see much changing given the two choices we have. my comment about 'evil' was directed at all of our politicians in general.
all these people who think the world will suddenly turn around if kerry gets elected drive me nuts. hes running on platforms about issues he really cant affect, and the people who dislike our current military positions will be in for a shock if he gets elected and they find out nothing much changes as to our involvement, except that we give control of our military assets to the un, which cant manage its way out of a paper box, and we are likely to get committed to more actions that will get royally screwed up because of that leadership structure.
honestly, weve had four years with a republican president and a republican congress, and im not too sure i like the results, although i think i would definitely be more scared if we had a democrat pres. and a democrat congress. the government and the debt have grown, we still cant get regular judges approved in congress, the supreme court is unlikely to see enough judges (if any) retire for either party to make any effect on the conservative/liberal swing of the court in the next four years (the judges who want to retire will wait to do so until someone they agree with is in office, anyway), and i have some issues with the 'patriot act' and our new military doctrine of 'first strike'. We need a strong leader who doesnt pussyfoot around pretending we are on an equal footing with every other nation out there, but we may have slightly overstepped ourselves recently, although given 9/11, im not sure any president would have done differently. and now that things have settled down, im not sure the current or new president would advance much differently, either.
maybe what we need here is some good old fashioned gridlock.
im more of a libertarian at heart in my core beliefs (although most of those guys are a bunch of fruitcakes); i just want the government to do the bare minimum (the things I as a citizen cannot do for myself) and otherwise just leave me, and my money, alone.
you can probably guess from all of this who i will be voting for in november, but lets just say im not that thrilled with either of the choices offered to me this time around. - Posted by: eLurker Posted on: 06/24/04 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
