Today?s spammer can teach the direct-marketing guru a thing or two.
Gone are the old days (last year) when spammers would just send out random messages to anybody they could. Today?s spammers have become very sophisticated and technologically astute. Using their new found skills, these creative marketers can now target consumers directly. They have developed new spyware that installs on unsuspecting victims? machines and collects all sorts of information.

Then, by running some logic and picking up on familiar words and terms, they send emails to your contacts, using your email address as the sent from (a concept known as spoofing). The recipient thinks this message is authentic and has no fear of opening it? and the cycle continues again.

This shift in strategy is gaining momentum with spammers and will proliferate in the coming months. Unfortunately, there is little that the average email consumer can do, other than install some sort of spyware on their computer (which can be hit and miss) or find an online service that will help authenticate the senders. I prefer the latter.

Good luck!
