Web services more hype than praticality
Web services have helped out in certain situations but I remember the hype in the early days. Web services were going to revolutionize the way we do business on the web and how software is delivered. Web services were the next insanely great thing. Not.

That tool has made some inroads, but not much has really changed. There are almost always other ways of exchanging data that work as well or better in particular situations. I'm sure web services will become more a part of the data system tools we use every day but I'm really surprised how slow the adotion has been. Every time we bring up web services as a means of exchanging data one of the other partners in the transaction will pan it for one reason or the other.
