- Spun nicely to hide anti-competitive effects of bundling

Microsoft branded IM is an integral part of the Windows OS (and yet another channel for virus, worms and trojans to be piped directly to low-level functionality in the OS).
Apparently, Windows IM can't be removed from the OS without breaking Windows. By sheer co-incidence, this means that anyone trying to sell a 3rd party IM client to Windows users is in effect trying to sell snow to eskimos. They get IM whether they want it or not. Microsoft IM. Microsoft IM that can not be removed, only hidden, to pop out ahgain whenever it likes (i.e. in accordance with latest settings in the latest auto-update).
Another transparent move to snuff out any potential competition from 3rd party developpers. - Posted by: whisperycat Posted on: 06/22/04 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
