Market share rated in dollar (or currency) terms doesn't really seem all that meaningful when it is being compared against competitors who don't charge for their product - only their service , and even then not always.

I know I'm forced to buy 2007 and then downgrade (?) to 2003 because of stability and compatibility issues and I also use OpenOffice on many of the same computers because of ease of use and stability. Near term is to remove all MS Office but that won't change the market share statistics based on cost rather than on value.
