Thats why I have always returned to Excel. VBA makes it much more powerfull and versatile. I have been whipping apps together based on Excel VBA for years. Using VBA in Excel even got me to build a fully automated reporting app that pulled raw data from 5 different CRM systems and a pabx system and could distro, depending on reporting alerts and days of the week, to different departments, by creation self generated perl scripts to be pushed through a Sun box.

It was not a thing of beauty, but it worked. It worked so good, that after moving on to a different firm, my position was not filled. The app continued to work without need of maintenance or as much as a mouse click for 2 years. That's 2 years worth of salary saved with 1 Excel license and about 50 hours of punching VBA.
