Some merit, but not much
Personally, I'd never use Google Apps because I don't like the idea of trusting my documents to a web application (would much rather have control of both the executables and the files they create). That said, a couple of MS' comments are real whoppers:

1. MS appears to believe in competition about as much as lawyers do in fair trials; better than having the system rigged against you, but frankly, they were hoping for something better. Were it otherwise, their legal bills would be much smaller.

2. My experience is that very few people use macros of any sort in office applications. They're certainly useful for some tasks, but most people neither want nor need them and wouldn't understand them if they did.
