Well, they're certainly not listening to Stone Temple Pilot
castoffs. My favorite Scott Wieland story was the month after
Spin ran an interview with him where he talked about being such
an outcast in high school, and how punk rock saved him. The
following month's issue featured a horde of letters from people
who went to high school with him, pointing out that he was
captain of the football team and homecoming king, and that at
the time, he was the lead singer of a Duran Duran styled band.
One even noted that Wieland told him to quit his own band, as
he'd "never make any money playing that punk sh*t."
