Sam...
VM is an app...that's what they're selling. Just like dosemu and wine under * (pick your favorite flavor OS here). IIRC VMware was originally shareware and ran under linux about 4 year ago or so...I never looked at it because I run/ran linux/dosemulator/wine or real Win9*, don't need it. Long, long ago I had an alpha copy of a Win3.1 (the current release for MS at the time) emulator that ran on SunOS 4.1.* (ran as a 286...Norton benchmarked it at 24Mhz). Only problem was that each copy of it required it's own full install on the drive. This is not new stuff.

Speaking of which...what's the exact purpose of this? To allow me to run multiple OS's at the same time right? Why not just load up another box, network them and use something like VNC (which is what I did at work...NT4.0 , linux, netBSD, Solaris 2.5.1 and Solaris 8) to control all of them. The price of hardware isn't that much more than their software anymore.

Or are we trying to create thin clients.
