Seems like a long time to me
Let's look at the stats. Windows is selling 200 million new licenses a year world-wide as they ship pre-installed on 96% or so of new computers. Munich is taking 4-5 years to switch 14,000 machines. To get 1% of the market over that period, linux vendors would have to take over some 10 million computers or almost a thousand projects with the same scope and scale as Munich.

Linux advocates have been chewing on this cabbage for over a year already and, dramatic as it seems on first glance, there is nothing so new to relate other than the Munich folk are paying more for linux than Microsoft offered for Windows in order to obtain their "freedom".

Seems like an uphill struggle that isn't going to lead to any real victory for OSS.
