- In Seattle Surprise that OOXML failed
-
I was with Google and Siemens employees from the Boston and Connecticut area last week and mentioned the OOXML vote. The funny thing is that they were unaware of the vote tampering and the Siemens fellow had been on contract to Microsoft on the Mac version of Open Office 2007 for the last 100 days!
The radio this morning in Seattle claims this vote against OOXML is a surprise. But it certainly wasn't on Zdnet.
Lets make certain we who frequent this forum are never surprised. In that spirit.
Microsoft continues its permatemp ways with a twist. This is how it works. A Siemens "agency" temporary works a full year less 100 days at Microsoft. That is allowed under US law and the temporary can not say his employer really is Microsoft. This permatemp (I suspect) is often an H1-B, a non US citizen, and the agency bills Microsoft shareholders for services (I suspect) at a multiplier of from 4 to 5 times what the worker actually gets paid. The permatemp is given every assistance in being productive (training, network access, equipment, access to Microsoft management, documentation etc).
So that the permatemp is not considered a Microsoft employee under US federal law, they must not work for Microsoft for 100 days out of the year. Some of these permatemps run their own projects and have been doing so for 13 years. They are hardly temporary. I think they are more like school teachers who work 9 months of the year with summers off but are still considered full time employees. During the 100 days that the permatemps are not allowed to work, the agency (say Siemens) fills the employment slot with another Siemens consultant, usually a US national, (I suspect). That fellow is given little assistance in being productive (training, network access, equipment, access to Microsoft management, documentation etc). At the end of the 100 days the original H1-B permatemp is put back into that position. Microsoft management is justified in saying - that German woman we have been using for the last 4 years just is much better.
Is there any surprise that US workers do not work out?
Now lets chat about the V dash prematemps. I think it was Zdnet that exposed that SAP is the largest vendor for Microsoft. The same rules apply. So the V dash permatemp (I suspect a German national) is not allowed to work for 100 days per year. During the 100 days, SAP replaces that worker with a US national but with intent to remove the national when the 100 days are up.
All of the above furthers monopoly/monarchical society. The connections become world wide with wealth being extracted from the USA and pooled by elites in Europe. The corruption continues into the standards bodies. There is little arms length dealing, little real competition, no free market. There is just connection - as in connected to the mobsters.
