It's called a class action suit
That's where any individual affected can receive as much as $20, but the attornies make $ millions. In cash, not coupons.

So, yes, it could be worthwhile for the attornies. Though class action status isn't easy to obtain.

I'm still wishing them luck. Plaintiffs' attornies have done a lot of damage. Be good to see them going after the bad guys for once.

Also, the times I've seen (and avoided) Gator, it has downloaded with some other, innocent product. I expect people providing free software are getting bandwidth, maybe even advertising.
When the program installs, you can often turn down Gator and friends if you take your time and read each screen carefully.
Sometimes there's no choice but to accept the spyware, then attack it with AdAware or Spybot.

Still, I'm enjoying the thought of plaintiffs' attornies spending their time on spammers and spyware producers. Keeps them away from the rest of us.
