Politically correct accounting
The concept of expensing stock options makes no sense. Stock options affect the value of the stock but NOT the financial results of the company.

It appears that the Financial Accounting Standards Board is creating another accounting disaster which destroys the comparability of financial results from one period to the next. They have fallen victim to the public outcry against the huge compensation packages offered to corporate executives.

While I believe that some, if not most, of the compensation packages are outrageous, it is not the FASB's place to reverse this trend. It is the responsibility of corporate shareholders to stem the tide of outrageous compensation packages, not the FASB or the government.
