Familiar Story
<< An initial code review revealed the most horrific spaghetti code any of us had ever seen. Some of the code was just pointless. And some of it was plain unintelligible. >>

I make a lot of money fixing Bangladore Spaghetti Code. It's usually not all bad. You can see here and there that they either had one knowlegable person on the team or copied from someone who was pretty good. The bulk of it is crap and the downhill trend is accelerating as more companies jump on the outsource bandwagon.

What you said about mixing languages. Ha! I laughed at that because I see it all the time. Hey, at least you're lucky to get the source code. I've had customers pay for apps and the developer refused to give them the source. So sorry, thank you very much.

Also find a lot of short-cut components tossed in the mix. Especially tab controls going for the Siebel look. Where did it come from? Do they have a license to redistribute it or not?

I'm sorry you guys got bit, but generally I think it's funny as hell. Companies are penny wise and pound foolish. Then they think I'm going to be able to fix it for pennies. Couple hours, right? HAHAHAHA! Guess again.
