Dell teaches people to build their own PC's
After you experience the liberating feeling of putting your own PC's together for specific applications Dell seems even more wretched than they are now.

What Dell learned is that when the bean counters take over your company they start cutting quality and making sacrifices to "shareholder value" to enhance the bottom line. They also are learning that the same qualities that got you to the top are the same ones that keep you on top. To bad they stop doing those things when they get there.

They didn't get to the top on the backs of Indian call centers. They got there hiring smart kids from the college and letting them do the job for the customer.

I haven't bought a Dell at home since '99. Right after I got off the phone with a trouble call where the tech was working four calls at once. That's when I knew they were going downhill.
