Who is the "US"?

Who is the ?US Economy?? All these articles assume that ?the US? is a coherent group of people and that what?s good for one is good for all. That hasn?t been true for decades.

The amount of money that travels around the globe outside of the political system known as the US (or any other country) is, by current estimates, four times that which travels within political state systems. The people who are calling out to politicians (of all people) to help them are missing the point that the politicians are in the same slowly sinking boat as the voters who elect them.

The gains from offshoring and similar dodges go to those wealthy individuals who maintain their assets outside the (taxed and regulated) political system. They have no reason to care about unemployment, social safety nets or personal taxation. The governments you are appealing to answer only to them.
