Think of it like this
What's the big deal.

Lets see, I've already paid for the product. Then I copy it. I have 1 PC and 1 install code but two sets of CDs for the game. Now I can install it on one PC and that's it. So having 2 or 100 copies of the the product do absolutely nothing for me. So what's the big deal here?

To actually pirate a game you have to get a crack for the game. Now if I'm going to go through the trouble of getting a crack for a game I'm sure not going to be detered because I can't buy copying software.

Seems to me like these companies are wasting thier time and money here. Pirating a game is not like pirating music, there is a lot more involved and with the direction games are going anyways that code on the CD going to be free in the near future as the games will have monthly payments for the online components that will be required to play the game or at least it will be the component that make the game fun.

As for your DVDs never being damaged, I have yet to have problem either and when I have kids the DVDs will be locked up and they will never handle them. But that doesn't stop the freak accidents from happening like when I had an electric wall heater go haywire and almost start my house fire but in the process it destroyed 8 CDs of software that happened to be near by. Not enough damage for insurance to cover so I was SOL. Luckily 7 of the 8 CDs were Microsoft software and they were replaced for a small fee for shipping and handling from Microsoft. Intuit was not as helpful.
