Tell me please, what in the hell is wrong with making a backup copy of ANY media that I have LEGALLY obtained?

Answer: NOTHING!!! IT IS LEGAL!! And has been for a long time, plenty of precidence.

Your solution can not work in many instances because once you open the package it's yours and can't be returned.

So how can you know that it has copyright protection until you try it? Maybe if it's labelled something like:

"Warning this product has been made such that you cannot make a legal backup"

Maybe they can even add: "BTW screw your rights, we don't care, we are greedy SOB's".
