Come on, pull your head out of the sand people.

Funny how I see the same people crying about "fair use" only to also hear them rant endlessly about how it is their "right" to pirate/share content in other postings. Sort of like a criminal crying about his Miranda rights I suppose...

Sorry folks, but when you associate yourself with what is clearly an illegal activity, your complaints about "fair use" tends to fall on deaf ears. Unfortunately for you, those ears happen to belong to the Congress and the Courts.

The other issue I keep hearing is that without a backup the product won't last forever. So? What do you buy that lasts forever? Nothing I can think of and I don't see anything different about this to suggest it should be a "forever product".

Gee, you damaged the product, then that is your problem. How much simpler does it get? I myself have CDs (and DVDs) that are years old and guess what? They all work and play fine because I treat them as a valuable object and take care of them. Are all of you suggesting I am far superior to you in this area? Surly not, anyone can take a few seconds to store their property properly.

As for 321Studios, this couldn't happen to a more deserving company. Look, it happens that I know the upper management at the company and have done some work with them. (Small world department) These guys are FULLY aware their software is being used to pirate content and used to joke about it all the time. In fact I recall the CEO once saying that if pirating was ever contained/eliminated, his company would be out of business. (Seems he may have been right.)

Regardless of how you cut it, these folks KNOW without any doubt what their product is being used for and did all they could to further it's illegal usage. Now, want to ask me how badly I feel for them???
