Mandatory exchange
I have long argued that the studios, game makers, etcetera have opened the door and it is only a matter of time before consumer advocates get one of these judges to order the creation of a disk exchange system.

If users are restricted by law from backing up the media they have purchased by the distributors of that media, then it logically follows that the distributors have assumed the responsibility for replacing defective disks.

Eventually one of these cases will be heard by a judge who has personal experience how fragile CD/DVDs are and he will order the distributors to impliment a free media exchange system for bad disks. Then we will hear the studios really howl, if they think piracy is expensive wait till they get the bill for media exchange.
