Patents and Copyrights
The laws involving patents and copyrights started off with good intentions. If you created something or came up with an idea that was proveable, then the laws allowed you to explore those ideas and market them without any competition for a few years. After that period of time they became public domain and anyone could use them. If the idea had been presented to the public in any media before being either patented or copyrighted, then the patent or copyright was invalided. This presented a problem for photographers and artists, as well as others.

During the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, those laws were changed. During the 1970s, I thought it was a good idea to change the laws. I had no idea how much they would change over the years afterwards.

Basicly we elected business people who had an interest in the business that they were attached to and wanted to see it prosper. Or they formed relationships with major corporations who provided them with jobs after their public service. They passed laws to see those businesses prosper. Laws that control the public as well as the competition to benefit these businesses. There has been very little advancement in technology over the past few years, compared to previous years, because our lawmakers have become afraid of what advancement will bring. Look on ZDnet. The growth of new technology has been slowing down. The copyright and patent offices are ways of controling advancement.

Think about this at election time....
