You have a point but...

Perhaps not everyone is as greedy as some companies and has lower margins. Only monopolies can have margins of 80%. Monster profits are ego-driven.

You have point here, BUT the big mistake is for a company that wants to operate this way, to IPO and make its company stock available to shareholders. If RED HAT or any techy company is so concerned about just the product, and doesnt want margin or earnings pressure they should just stay a private company.

Your utopian world of business doesnt fly in the world of the stock market...I mean if your not bringing in enough revenue to pay your highly paid staff and not charging enough to maintain that staff, you IPO in hopes that shareholder equity will help, but hey if your shareholders are giving YOU money, they expect something in return. If you hate this philophy then I say dump your 401k and all the stock held in it because you obviously wouldnt consider yourself someone that takes part in this type of behaviour.
