Microsoft could care less about the "centavos" as you say.
Compared to the 60 billion and counting in the bank, any money they make in Brazil is peanuts. The problem is that in general, Microsoft is desparate to stop the spread of Linux, stop the positive Linux news stories, and deny Linux a critical mass. This means fighting tooth and nail everywhere.
