... I'd say you're right on, as IBM's principal
Linux vendor to date - RedHat - clearly shot
itself in the head (deliberately) w/r/t consumer
desktop stuff. That is, IBM may continue to rely
on RH for some server stuff, but will - if it
hasn't already - certify SuSE ASAP. SuSE is
good in server and desktop space.,

Ummm, RH says it's still go for BIZ desktops,
but their CEO's ASININE statements may
queer their chances except in the straight-up
enterprise server space.. His remarks "salted
the ground," as someone put it well, earlier
this week, and the Linux community isn't
happy at his faux pas.

Anyway, that needn't affect IBM, but IBM may
de-emphasize, if not dump, RH in favor of
SuSE in the server space. SuSE's enterprise
offerings are almost as strong as RH's, and
its business and consumer Desktop Linux is
arguably superior.

Seems like a nice progression.

... and as resident dork BillW mentioned, yeah,
you'll always see M$ among the offerings, but
a Linux server+desktop One-Two Punch
seems a natural. My god, think of the CAL
savings alone, in a big sale! Sheesh!
