- Sounds good to me

I live in an area that has several natural foods stores where one can get organic produce and organic prepared foods. Yes they cost more than conventional products, but apparently these stores have found a market ready for their products. More power to them. In addition, every weekend there's a farmers market in the center of town where people can buy local produce. It's been going for at least 14 years, if not longer. I like the fact that these things are here. I've grown used to them, and I like their products generally more than the conventional stuff I can get at Safeway or equivalent.
This is all well and good, and there's a vibrant economy around it. Unfortunately I haven't seen much economic opportunity in my area for my line of work here (I've seen it elsewhere though), plus I've heard from some small business owners in my area, complaining about what the city council has been doing the last several years. They wonder whether they're going to continue to be able to keep their doors open or not. They're awfully liberal here, and they like regulations. Unfortunately they don't see how this squeezes out economic opportunities for people, and makes business want to go elsewhere.
As I said in an earlier post I've recently thought of "moving to a job". I really don't like the idea, as I practically grew up where I am, and it feels like home to me. But I also have to look at the situation for what it is, and see that I may not have a future here. - Posted by: Mark Miller Posted on: 06/12/04 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
