Microsoft settles another antitrust case

MS can survive by

either investing the money into their competitors (after of course divesting or losing enough marketshare to do so), and thusly gain small to large profits off their competitors hard labor,

or

play it IBM/Sun style and mix more hardware into their porfolio, maybe buying or investing heavily into an industry hardware player, AMD . . . . and doing like $un or IBM and bundle their "free" software with their not so free hardware/servers and services (which might work around MS's open source problem being that hardware is a finite resource and subject to different pricing fluctuations.

Heck maybe Adobe, Lotus, Corel, and some other commercial/closed entities can buy some hardware, . . ooops, Corel's off the buying and on the bought list . .
