A evil idea which they've already had
GeCAD was the product, or the company, or both, I forget. If Microsoft bought GeCAD for any purpose other than to take a reportedly decent Linux security product and shoot it in the head, that purpose has not yet been seen.

Having said that, I'm kinda unhappy with PDF, because it distracts people from publishing effectively using HTML or other open and more widely implemented text markup systems.
