apples lower end machine are bit overpriced compared to
x86 compatible hardware. Their higher end machines are
not. Apple does not even try to compete in the super low
cheap PC market. They need to drop the G3, and they
might soon, as they are about to upgrade the ibook line.
The G4s still run very nice, and from what ive seen, a
G4 1.33ghz powerbook keeps up in processor performance
with a intel pentium-m 1.8ghz system. (which Dell loves
right now)
Intels Pentium-M 1.8ghz seems to run in most things faster
than a 2ghz P4, since it has more cache. Seems fine on
portable for me, though it could be better.
As far as desktops. Any system that competes in
performance with the dual G5s is not drasticly cheaper, if
cheaper at all. The low end G5 seems to still be a bit
overpriced, but just slightly. Dell high end workstations
that compete with dual G5s are actually more expensive.
Alienware (and most others) that make Athlon 64 machines
are more expensive also.
anyways, you need to learn how computers actually work,
before you try to compare them just looking at numbers
that you dont truly understand. Bigger numbers do not
mean better. - Posted by: doh123 Posted on: 10/15/03 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
