Still way too expensive
My wife and I had dinner in a small dining joint in Beijing last week. Total cost, including beers, was just under $3 US. This is Beijing, one of the "rich" places in China. Get out into the rural areas and that same meal might have cost half that.

People in China don't make much money. $60 US, while obviously better, is still out of reach for most thus won't have much of an effect on piracy.

Another thought, I'd imagine that many of the PC's are not the latest and greatest, and might be unable to even run Vista effectively.

MS doesn't seem to understand the Chinese market. They need to put out a stripped down OS that can run on the older hardware, and make it cost around $10. They've done similar things in other parts of Asia, maybe they think China is richer ?
